In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, no one knew how to react, how to grieve, how to go on. Less than two weeks after the tragedy, Fire Captain Nick must give eulogies for eight of his men. A friend contacts Joan, an editor, to help Nick. In the afternoon they spend together, Nick recounts the virtues and foibles of his men, and as Joan writes the memorials, they derive strength and comfort in the courage of their countrymen.
The Guys is based on a true story.
