A Shot in the Dark

by Michael Achard, adapted by Harry Kurnitz
directed by Steve Callahan

March 20–22 & March 27–29

The chauffeur is found dead—with the parlor maid unconscious next to him, gun clutched in her hand! It seems there is no mystery to this murder. But the magistrate is so affected by the maid’s simplicity and frankness that he risks the ire of his judicial comrades to pursue other suspects.

Reviews

“West End Players Guild provides a lot of laughs over three acts in its revival of this mostly forgotten piece.… This is not a play that needs analysis, just enjoyment.… Even the curtain call is a comic treat.” — Andrea Braun, KDHX-FM radio

“It's almost embarrassing to acknowledge how satisfying a well-staged trifle like this can be. … [T]the consistently amusing evening breezes by, mostly thanks to Emily Strembicki's captivating and utterly convincing portrayal.…” — Dennis Brown, Riverfront Times

…Emily Strembicki sparkles as a Paris chambermaid charged with murdering her lover.… — Judith Newmark, St. Louis Post-Dispatch
